Ithemba was founded in 1988 under the umbrella of Mental Health in Port Elizabeth. We became independent in 2014, and our new management team took over in 2023 with a renewed vision.
The name "Ithemba" means Hope. We are an Intellectual and Physical Disability Centre catering to children with Down syndrome, Autism, and Cerebral Palsy. Our facility is fully wheelchair-friendly.
